PROJECT OVERVIEW
For this project, a local restaurant wanted a way to encourage more customers to leave 5-star reviews on Google. They requested a flyer to be displayed in an acrylic stand at the front counter, offering customers a chance to win a gift card in exchange for leaving a review.
The flyer I designed clearly communicated this message while customers were checking out with their take-out orders. The design incorporated the restaurant’s existing branding from their website and menus to maintain visual consistency. I used strong leading lines and intentional layout choices to guide the viewer’s eye toward the key information, and a QR code was included to streamline the review process and quickly direct customers to the Google review page. Imagery of the gift card and selective enlargement of key text elements helped capture attention and reinforce the promotion.
Along with the flyer, I designed survey cards for the waitstaff to distribute with receipts at the end of a meal. This allowed servers to discreetly give cards to tables that had a particularly positive dining experience. Two card styles were created—one gray and one red—to distinguish between the restaurant’s two locations and their separate Google Business pages.
To keep the cards flexible and cost-effective, I left a blank space for servers to write their names by hand, allowing the owner to reorder cards without updating them based on staffing changes. The cards also supported an internal incentive program where the server with the most 5-star reviews would receive a Visa gift card.
Together, the survey cards and front-counter flyer created a dual approach to generating reviews. The cards encouraged great service and public recognition for servers, while the flyer targeted take-out customers and highlighted the quality of the food, helping improve the restaurant’s online reputation and digital presence.
